Just received this fantastic offer!

Did you know you could buy AIR MILES reward miles to top up your Dream balance? Right now, you can buy reward miles for only 20¢ each.* That’s 10¢ less than the regular price. Buy reward miles to build up your balance for that special redemption you've always wanted. This limited-time offer is just for you, so don’t miss out on this great deal!

BUT doesn't the average value at point of purchase equal .....ten cents.....???

Another profit centre for Loyalty Management.
They must think we're all really stupid, or desperate.

I just topped up another 950 Air Miles, so I now have $600 to take to BMO for investment. I'm hoping for one more before the first one expires, but might not make that. I won't buy stuff I don't really need or at inflated prices just to get more Air Miles, no matter what.

Years ago when I first retired we cashed in and booked a trip to the UK using our Air Miles. It was before they put an expiry date on them and my wife did all the stick handling with Air Miles. We were a bit short, so we paid cash for the balance. I always thought that we paid too much as we had finally cashed in our Air Miles that we had accumulated since day one. In hind sight I bet we paid 30 cents a mile to be cashed in at a value of 10 cents. What a rip off!!!! Only if I knew then what I know now.

AirMiles claims these extra costs are for taxes etc. I know these can be substantial, but I think if you're going to use AirMiles for flights, you get better value using them domestically.
I have used them successfully and with reasonable value for some domestic fights, but am not holding my breath for that any more. I will take what I get from this investment in a year and consider it part of next year's travel budget, and will spend it for best value.
