Hi,
I'm a new user of this site and wondering why Tangerine and Simplii aren't on the main chart highinterestsavings.ca/chart ?
Thanks

Welcome!
It's a forum for high Interest accounts. Both Tang and Simplii have account interest rates of 1.1%.
They are, however, both covered extensively in their own forum section.
They do offer promo rates, but not available to everyone so I presume that is why they are not listed with the others on the Comparison chart or GIC chart.
Same reason none of the big 6 are included.

There could be another way of looking at it, Rick! Both are significant players among Forum members, even though their basic rates may not be all that great, their promos do get as many if not more discussion posts than many if not most of the other FI's on the list......consider Zag, Peoples, Bridgewater, Icici.

Benson may have a point!

The only information that could legitimately appear on the chart about these FIs would be their basic non-promo rates, which are unattractive and worse than Peoples etc.
Any promo rates belong on the Promos page.
As for Tangerine's on-again off-again targeted rates, there is really no way to accommodate them on any chart, but they are extensively dealt with in the forum. With them, it's more about tactics than rates per se as the latter are highly variable from person to person.

Ultimately, Peter's call on which FI's appear on the lists. Yes, Tang and Simplii have provided countless topics of discussion on this forum, as I pointed out to the OP. Bottom line to me is this is a High Interest Savings Account forum, and neither Tang nor Simplii qualify as hi-interest. Same as RBC, BMO, CIBC, TD, Scotia, HSBCor a plethora of CU's that could be listed. . They also have promos on occasion, which are promptly reported on this forum. Any of the other FI's you mention may not lead the pack on rates, but even the lowest is a quarter percent above 1.1%. If T&S quit playing games with rates, I would welcome them. As it stands, I can't sign up and get any better than 1.1% without begging and pleading for better rates.
Like I said, not my call as to which FI's appear here, but I do appreciate not having to sift through their meager offerings while I decide where to park my money.
If I haven't mentioned it to Peter and the mods, thankyou for this forum. It has proven invaluable when making some substantial financial decisions.

Indeed! Constructive brainstorming input provides diverse views from which Peter as Admin can monitor interests and views of Forum members, and make his own decisions.

I too am in total agreement in appreciating the Forum, that has helped me make informed choices....Thanks!
