My wife and I had a joint account with TD for about 40 years and last year or so she got this offer and I didn't. We had enough that we wanted two accounts to take advantage of the deal but they refused to give me the deal, only my wife was chosen by their marketing dept was what the what looked like 16 year-old manager told me. That was hilarious, given that my wife has never had anything to do with handling our money but it wasn't important enough to pursue so I said forget it.

Thanks, Koogie.
I think TD has just given me the excuse I needed to hurry up and get my money out of there. They obviously don't care about those of us who already have money in this account. .55% is an insult when almost every other financial institution offers more, and many offer substantially more.
I may just close the account altogether.

This seems to be the same offer to targeted customers as they had before. We have a joint account and only my wife got the offer when she logged in to her account today. It's 1.6% plus regular .55%, thus total 2.15%, until January 31/16, make sure to put in at least $5K, $25K to avoid transaction fees.

The TD High Interest Savings Account has a $5 fee per withdrawal, if one doesn't maintain a $25,000 minimum monthly balance!
- $5 fee for Debit Transactions1
- Non-TD ATM withdrawals for $1.50 each within Canada
- Foreign ATM withdrawals (inside U.S. and Mexico) are $3 CDN each
- Foreign ATM withdrawals (outside Canada, U.S. and Mexico) are $5 CDN each
That needs to be taken into consideration should there be no subsequent offer from TD after January 31, 2016, the rate drops to 0.55%, and one wishes to transfer the money out.
