New product from RBC/Shoppers Drug Mart. They don't pay any interest on bank balance (I called and checked - there isn't any information about this on the site), but it is an interesting concept. You really have to look at the terms and conditions

So if I understand you earn points only to shop at Shoppers. So, no air miles, and no cash back, just points for Shoppers. The only problem is ….Shoppers is toooooo expensive to shop at!! What a great partnership with RBC, the bank that service fees you to death! And it only costs 10.95 and month .. is that a teaser rate? Good luck to Shoppers.

Gee, that's funny you say that, I find that Shoppers is the cheapest when it comes to lots of items, such as food. And dairy and many other things, great prices and fantastic service!

Shoppers Drugs lost me years ago when they were owned by a tobacco company. They are so overpriced .... I never even look at their flyers. So sign up ... RBC gets to use your money, gives you no interest, and you pay 132.00 for that privilege. Sounds like a losing opportunity to me.

Are you talking about "Shoppers Drug Mart" the one everybody knows it is over priced?

I wouldn't go for it myself - I agree that the fees are going straight to RBC - just thought it was interesting. I think these financial institutions are just trying to figure our new ways to generate some income for themselves. I shop a lot at SDM - but only load up on the deals they have in their flyers. One bit of useful information I could pass along though. SDM sometimes has a ceriticate number on the bottom of thier receipt - you go on to their site and do a survey after filling in the certificate number. Last year I won $1000 in SDM gift cards by doing this survey.

I agree with 88Kanaka on this one. Spend $132.00 per year to RBC for the privilege of using a debit card at Shoppers Drug Mart? No way, that ain't happening for me. After the 50,000 points they give you for signing up only gets you $85 off at Shoppers. Even after a year of paying the $132 to RBC, your still down $47. Like Pebbles, I only shop there for their flyer specials like their saturday or sunday specials only and thats it for me for another week.
