I do not think it is THAT simple. Offer does not say are you eligible if you are ALREADY RBC client. Beside that you have to endure:
- Discuss your everyday banking needs
- Review together your bank account statement from your other bank
- Find ways to save you money with banking accounts starting from just $4
Provide you with a $50 VISA‡ Gift Card just for reviewing your banking needs with us1
No product purchase required
Meaning you have to put your pants down (they do and WILL collect personal and fin. data) and bend over.

I would also not be surprised if there is or they will be put in place an early account closure fee that say in 90 days or 180 days should you decide to close your account with them, there would be a $25 or $50 closing account fee.
I found this with a few financial institutions, banks, credit unions that are not one of the 5 Canadian big banks that have already higher savings account, GIC rates and have already such account closure fees if accounts are closed within a certain amount of days, months etc.

I am an existing customer of RBC (credit card) and I can get this promotion, and I get it while I am applying to another credit card from them.
Personal information is share every time we apply for something, so sharing personal info is undesirable, but it is also part of daily life.

thanks, Norman.
I think it's not for me. I would qualify but I don't want to go through the rigmarole - not worth it.
I'd love to see someone go in their with their multiple bank statements from Peoples (TFSA), Oaken (GICs), Accelerate (savings) etc etc. They would wish you'd never come and would probably be glad to hand you the $50 to get you out of there! Could be quite funny.

Loonie, when I cashed in my BMO AirMiles vouchers for a GIC at BMO I bought the GIC with the vouchers and a cheque from Accelerate. The adviser was chatty and we had worked with her before as we moved my mothers funds after probate was finished as I had to hold the funds for six months and did not want to leave them in the credit union she dealt with. We talked about rates and any options to move some of my RRSP funds to BMO which in my mind ended as she only offered mutual funds. We also discussed our grandfathered accounts as they were all "fee free". When I handed her the cheque from Acclerate...she tapped it and asked do you have to pay for these cheques and I responded..no, I just ordered more this week at no charge. I also said...you might want to google their rates! I imagine if she did she would conclude what I will be doing with the GIC at BMO once it matures!
