I recently received a promotional pamphlet in the mail from RBC. It stated that if you switch to a "RBC Signature No Limit Banking" account before August 31, 2007, you will receive a $150 gift card to HBC, Future Shop or Esso. It definitely caught my attention, but I soon realized that the account costs $12 per month. So really, you're only get a $30 bonus in one year, and then you're stuck with monthly service charges. http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/giftcard
I neat feature I did notice is that they have a multi-product rebate which decreases your monthly service charges if you hold more than one of their products. Again, I was interested, but soon realized it isn't such a great deal. One of the "products" you need is a mortgage or a RBC Homeline Plan...all of which are not simple things to obtain like a Visa or investment account.

That MultiProduct Rebate is definitely not all it is cracked up to be. I have enough "products" as they call them, but they won't give me the rebate because my mortgage is joint but my wife and I maintain separate chequeing accounts. If we change to a single joint chequeing account they will do it, but we don't want to do that. So we are prevented from getting a loyalty reward by having too many accounts! This on top of being forced to change to the $11/month account when our old account type was no longer supported = no more RBC for me.
