Hello,
Do any of the banks above 1.7% have free withdrawals? I note that many have a limitation on the withdrawals per month (one). I'd rather not have this at all. Any suggestions?
I'm looking to open an online account, and am leaning towards Achieva because of their referral $50 credit. The 0.1% interest difference I lose would take a long time to generate $50 so for the short (1-5 year term) it makes the most sense, HOWEVER it has only 1 withdrawal per month for free.
Thanks!

If you want high interest and transactions you really can't find that all in one account, rarely can you even find it at one institution. What I've been doing is maintaining two accounts. A transaction account with no fees and a high interest account. And I do it such that transfers between the accounts are free or transfers are generally flowing into the savings only.
If you are satisfied with a little more moderate interest, then you can look at places like Tangerine or PC Financial. Or even do a two account system at some credit unions or big banks.

While Hubert doesn't have a bill-paying system as such, it can be the source of a pre-authorized debit (PAD). So any recurring payment that lets you set up a preauthorized withdrawal from your bank account can draw from Hubert. For instance, I have my monthly rent automatically withdrawn from my Hubert account, and my ISP bill, and formerly my car payments. It helps reduce the volatility on my TD chequing account.
You need to get Hubert to provide you with the full branch/transit/account info for your account.

If .1% isn't that big a deal, .is 2% for unlimited withdrawals worth it? I don't know what the fee is at Achieva, but if you need to do more than one per month, how long will the 50 bux last? CDF is currently at 1.5%, almost double PC and Tangerine and they have the unlimited withdrawals you are looking for, as well as bill payment and transfers.
