Does anyone know where I could find a list similar to the one below that is updated regularly and includes all Canadian banks?

Not all the banks have a debt rating.

For example, Tangerine Bank and Alterna Bank don't.

Is Tangerine a real bank or does it fall under BNS?

Tangerine Bank is a separate bank. It used to be called ING Bank of Canada.

This is Note #355 from the Payments Canada Rule D4:

355. The Superintendent of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions issued Letters Patent to amend the incorporating instrument of ING Bank of Canada (#614) by changing its name to Tangerine Bank (#614), effective May 9, 2014.

I would suggest the credit rating agencies lump Tangerine in with BNS (wholly owned by BNS)

I doubt they are taking suggestions, but I wouldn't make this suggestion as there is no guarantee that BNS will backstop Tang.

That wasn't the question. It is about the debt ratings assigned by the likes of DBRS, Moody's et al. Tangerine Bank (and Hollis Bank) would be included in BNS just like Bank of Nova Scotia Trust Company.

Per https://www.dbrsmorningstar.com/research/377310/dbrs-morningstar-confirms-the-bank-of-nova-scotia-at-aa-with-a-stable-trend

DBRS Limited (DBRS Morningstar) confirmed the ratings of The Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank or the Bank) and its related entities, including Scotiabank’s Long-Term Issuer Rating at AA and Short-Term Issuer Rating at R-1 (high). The trend on all ratings is Stable. Scotiabank’s Long-Term Issuer Rating is composed of an Intrinsic Assessment (IA) of AA (low) and a Support Assessment (SA) of SA2, which reflects the expectation of timely systemic support from the Government of Canada (rated AAA with a Stable trend by DBRS Morningstar). As a result of the SA2 designation, the Bank’s Long-Term Issuer Rating benefits from a one-notch uplift.

Tangerine in the eyes of the regulator, CDIC are a separate entity. While it is a known fact its "owned" by BNS, BNS has no legal obligation to bail it out. Dont confuse legal vs moral obligation.
Unlike Simplii, which is simply a separate brand of CIBC, and any deposits you make at Simplii falls under the same $100k protection u have for all your other CIBC accounts. If you have an account at Simplii, you will notice it is just a transit number of CIBC.

So credit rating agencies are doing the right thing and keep Tangerine separate from BNS.

They do? Please show me what rating Moodys and DBRS gives Tangerine because I have not found it.

ADV Ratings doesn't https://www.advratings.com/canada/tangerine-bank because it operates as a subsidiary.

OTOH, DBRS equates Hollis with BNS because it is wholly owned by BNS.

Yes thanks for that AltaRed but I think people are getting away from what I was after. What Adv is showing is great but too outdated to be useful and not as complete as one would hope, missing institutions like Wealth One for example. Even larger more stable bank ratings have dropped and in view of the current climate of instability I think this is important information in decision making.

If Wealth One, for example, is not publicly traded in some way, e.g. common equity, or preferred equity or corporate bonds, I don't know why DBRS or any ratings agency would rate them, or how they would do so.

I recognize that but I am giving you a reason why that is the case for Wealth One. There will be others like that. If you can't find a credit rating by DBRS for an entity, that is most likely because it is not a publicly traded entity or it is a subsidiary of another entity that may, or may not, be publicly traded.

There is no reason to shun such entities as long as one stays within deposit insured limits.

DBRS will issue ratings for those who pay the fees and supply the required information.

Saskatchewan credit union Affinity Credit Union has done that and has a DBRS rating. Other financial institutions, like Wealth One Bank of Canada, have not.

To take it 1 step further, only put above deposit if you are comfortable with the name (e.g big5 plus a few others)

I understand everything everyone is saying but to put it simply I am after the identical information as ADV in one place but current. The additional institutions would just be icing on the cake so to speak.

Wishful thinking. Ratings don't change often and when you see an institution of interest, google it specifically for debt rating. Debt ratings don't really matter much for insured deposits.
