I haven't timed it but for sure the maximum time before signing you out on desktop is way shorter with EQ than with other banks. They also don't limit themselves to signing you out after a period of inactivity--I have often been signed out while using the site. In combination with 2-factor verification it is extremely cumbersome and irritating if you need to do a few things on their site. They appear to offer an opt-out option for 2-factor, you can check off a box for "I trust this device"--but it does not work for me. Is this something I have to change in my computer settings?

Do you mean that you are not signed out quickly? Or that you successfully turn off 2-factor verification? I am also using Chrome.
No, I'm not signed out quickly, and I don't use EQ's 2FV because we don't have cell service at our rural acreage.

P.S.
Maybe you need to call EQ

I have the same experience as limonium. I also find it quite frustrating to constantly be thrown out of EQ for taking too long to respond or make an action. I also get thrown out for all manner of minor quirks. I could click on something like Download statement and get tossed out for an error on their end. I avoid EQ whenever possible or limit myself to the simplest and most basic operations.
EQ has the 'trust this device' option, which allows them to place a cookie on your computer so that it is recognized as a safe device, the next time you log onto their system.

2-factor verification is one of the best security available for ur online bank account access. I would never turn it off no matter the reason.

Agreed ⬆, but . . .
When you don't have cell service to receive 2FV texts where you live, you have no choice, but to opt out.

Have you ever tried the trusted device option? Did it work for you?

Nor would I, although Dean's situation is an obvious exception. I don't have any untimely logouts at EQ Bank but I am never on the site more than about 1-1.5 minutes at a time anyway.

I did have it enabled at the beginning, but quickly turned it off in preference of higher security standards. For financial matters, I select higher protocols and try not to allow cookies from the institutions. IIRC, when it was active, it worked as described and I could skip the authentication step.

I would like to enable it when I need to spend time on the site and then turn it off afterward. If they were like other banks and only timed me out after a period of inactivity I would not be trying to opt out.

A lot of banks (not sure if all) offer more than 1 method for 2-factor verification:
voice call to your phone number
text to your phone number
email
etc
To turn if off based on "convenience" cuz need to log in and out multiple times quickly is not the "excuse" in my mind. The "register this device" option is for that exact purpose. Make sure you are NOT on a VPN when you opt in for that. I dont use the "register this device" for the simple reason if not needing to remember if I am on VPN, or in case I give a old computer away etc. I also never turn off 2-FV so I dont have to remind myself to turn it back on.

I said I would like to turn off the "register this device" option when I am finished working on the site. In other words, I would only opt out of 2F while attempting to make transactions, to spare myself the frustration of not only having to sign in again but ALSO having to use 2F after randomly getting booted out for no apparent reason.
