I spoke to EQ Bank yesterday and asked when joint accounts will be made available. They told me end of February (2020). Not sure if this has been reported here before but I didn't come across it when searching.

Thanks for reporting this. There have been several previous discussions, but this is the first I've heard of a February 2020 date.

Having a joint account is one of the reasons I setup with Motive. I don't understand the delay but it's been a strike against EQ since they started.

I asked about joint accounts at EQ in "chat" today. Here's the answer:

I see your inquiry, EQ Bank would introduce joint account before the first half of the year, however there is currently no date to share.

Thx. They won't commit themselves in writing.

And what does "would" mean? It's a conditional word, not the same as "will". What is the condition, I wonder.

Don't hold your breath, folks!

Though they still lack joint accounts, you can still send money to "another" EQ bank account holder by setting up an "EQ Connection" for an account in your spouse's name, as pseudo-work-around.

Far from ideal, but at least gives the ability to easily move money between EQ accounts.

Agreed. I have done that in the past ad it can sometimes provide a helpful workaround.
But of course it still doesn't deal with the CDIC insurance limits or ensure that the other person gets the money in the event of death.

Based on the poor grammar and run on sentence, I think it is safe to assume that the author does not know the difference between "will" and "would".

I saw this topic today in my unread threads, and the first thought was "Someone must have posted an April fools joke yesterday!" 😀
