In their Q2 update, Equitable Bank announced that its online-only EQ Bank will be available to Québec residents soon:
- EQ Bank services are also coming to Québec this fall, an important step for EQB, which has proudly served Québec customers through the brokered deposit and brokered mortgage channels for many years and has participated in the local economy as an employer of talented Challengers in its Montréal office since 2010.

Agreed ⬆, Vatox.
Some of the best HISA Rates are also available in Quebec:
. . . and the same goes for some of the better GIC Rates as well.
It would seem that EQ has some very serious work to do, to regain their lost status as one of the best HISA & GIC Rate payers in the country.
May 'The Force' be with them ❗

I suspect EQ Bank was recently more interested in turning their Savings Plus account into a day-to-day account than offering joint GIC's:
- This fall will see the introduction of the EQ Bank payment card, which will allow customers to make purchases wherever Mastercard are accepted. This payments experience will complement current offerings and the new functionality will allow Canadians to use EQ Bank for the majority of their day-to-day banking needs as a primary bank

... found this in their recent Q3 where they weren't saying much:
"...
EQ Bank expanded its customer base by +23% y/y to over 290,000 and during October, further increased its customer base to over 295,000. EQ Bank will soon launch in Quebec, offering its Make Bank value proposition across all-digital deposit and savings products
