I'll tell you one thing its very, very easy to get locked out of your account at EQ Bank and if you phone any of their phone numbers once you input the number "1" for English the computer hangs up on you, see video attachment.

Meh. Not competitive.

The offered 4% for 6- or 9-month GIC and 5.2% for 1-year GIC are not competitive if one has a BMO InvestorLine brokerage account.

The BMO brokerage ISA's are paying 4.60% at the moment. As well, the one-year GIC's issued by Bank of Montreal, Bank of Montreal Mortgage, BMO Trust, and Haventree Bank are 5.26% at BMO InvestorLine. Those are behind the leading 5.27% one-year GIC's from Shinhan Bank Canada.

For 6-month commitment, BMO InvestorLine is offering Province of BC 3.30% bonds maturing 2023-Dec-18 (175 days) at 99.576 (including commissions) for a yield to maturity of 4.19%. 3.30% of the 4.19% is interest. The remaining part of the yield is capital gain from one paying 99.576% of face value for a bond that will mature at 100% of face value!

6 month term is 5% today

... Is it worth it to locked-in for 6 months when there are so many HISA promo around? ... a matter of opinion, no need to post your answer
