Thanks.

At the conclusion of purchasing online, that's the point where they disclose that a GIC bought from a joint account will be in your name only. sf-confused Now I know its only for 3 months, but really?

So I called to ask if it can be done by them, and while on hold changed the purpose of my call to complain about the excessively loud music encroaching on pain threshold. Amateur hour. sf-yell

Never did get through, no surprise they are busy first thing. Is this a bank?

They could have just chosen to not offer the 3 month GIC at all and saved themselves some grief and bitching from customers.

$100k for a differential of 25bp for 3 months is $62.50 before tax. It's not an International crisis. Don't buy it.

Sounds like EQ Bank has implemented joint HISA's. But joint GIC's are not done yet!

Their GIC Agreement confirms that:

Customer eligibility and GIC investment requirements

You can only buy a GIC for yourself and not on behalf of, or for the benefit of, another individual. We do not offer joint EQ Bank GICs at this time.

Off topic, which is the manner in which they do business, not rate or dollar differentials. Refer post #2 for specifics. sf-confused

Well $62.50 is still worth bending over for and picking it up off the sidewalk if I saw it laying there. When this GIC matures in three months I will then move the cash over to my RBC promo which kicks up to 2.0% in July.

The 3-month 1½% non-registered GIC is now gone.

Rate is now 1.3% for the 15-month and shorter GIC's.

Has anyone else noticed e-Transfers sending much quickly now? For as long as I can remember, they used to take exactly 30 minutes for the email to be received where the money was sent to, regardless of the amount of the transfer.

Recently I had a $3,000 e-Transfer send instantly, without the 30 minute wait. That's good news for me. I hope it will continue that way, since I still don't understand the reason for a delay when sending an e-Transfer.

The next suggestion I have for EQ is to add autodeposit and the request money features for e-Transfer. I transfer money between accounts pretty frequently with this method, and manually accepting, answering my own security question can be redundant.
