Looks like the 1 year rate on a GIC dropped from 5.5% to 5.35% overnight.

Talk about timing. I just moved money in yesterday morning. Glad I called to lock-in the 5.5% 1-year rate while my funds are on hold.

It looks like EQ was an outlier at 5.5% so it is not at all surprising. Those 15bp are far better off placed in EQ's NIM for the next quarterly results.

Lucky Her . . .

My Wife bought an EQ 1yr GIC yesterday afternoon @ 5.50%. sf-smile

I warned her that afternoon that she'd better Grab it while she can, before it goes Down ... and sure enough, it did ... the very next day! LOL

Yeah, ~0.10% after taxes difference is going to make her significantly richer. Lol.

Having a good or bad day has nothing to do with it.
If your wife bought 10k GIC that’s 10 loonies per annum with 0.1% . Nothing to brag about.

Lol, it's Grumpflation. You can't even make statements on the interwebs anymore without Grumpflation hitting you.

Let me be the first to congratulate your wife on the 10 extra snicker bars she'll be able to buy with that moolah!!! sf-smile
