Ok so they sent an email this time to some members but not all members. But to do it on the very day of the change and force existing customers to move funds out then back in means they have ZERO respect for existing customers. We should all vote with our feet. Right now,one can get 6.25% up to 200k, and 5.75% for 200k-1M, for 4 months guaranteed, from CIBC, so why stick with Duca given the games they play?
U dont have to.
Could be lots of reason why a email is not received, not always because its not sent. Its just easy to blame others instead of oneself.
How can one get 6.25% upto 200k at CIBC ? BTW I bank with CIBC and not once did I receive a email re change in rates, and its not user error either

I hung around my Duca branch today and just kept sending the teller to get Management to verify that old money at Duca becomes NEW again, as soon as you move it out of Duca into another bank. Then just transfer it right into the 6% account as many times as needed. Me2Me, e-transfers, Pushes or zpullsCash bank drafs, cash, etc.
Duca wants your money, but the employees are too afraid of saying something that angers management.
The teller then told the couple after me, the same information about New money.
I also got the teller to finish authorizing my 6% account without having to put any deposit into the account. It appetred as one of my accounts and Then I made my first deposit as etrnsfr into it.
So a good day overall.
Extra Note: The couple behind me asked the teller to withdraw $500 dollars from the old Duca promo account and then deposit it into their new 6% account, but he said he couldn't do it because he knew it was old money. However, if they came back another day, he wouldnt know for sure, so I assume that the cash would be accepted.

I have successfully opened my 2024 promo account paying 6% interest at Duca ... but it seems to be completely useless. As others pointed out, the system does not allow transfering into it from existing accounts (except for the initial transfer), Therefore, I have tried to setup me2me transfer from Tangerine. Tangerine is using Plaid for this. I have successfully signed into Duca, via Plaid, from Tangerine. However, I got the following weird message: No compatible accounts.
Anyone experiencing the same issue? Any workarounds?
If I am not able to transfer money into the new Duca account, it is completely useless.

The self-service process gave me some troubles, but after a few attempts, I have been able to open the "2024 SPRING EARN MORE PROMO" with an initial transfer of $0.00.
I was then able to transfer money from an externally linked account. So far so good.
When I look at the "Account Details", I see: "Current Interest Rate 0.000%"
Anyone else has this 0.000% situation ?

it was reported by some who also experience the same 0% glitch and had to call in to have it fixed. Or leave them a message to fix it.

Plaid at Tangerine doesn't link external accounts for funds transfers. We found earlier that Plaid just adds external accounts to show the balances.

See below. Scroll down to see "Smart interest" which makes it 6.25% on up to $200k.

True, but with so many observed screw ups by Duca, my bet is they did not send it. For 6.25%, see my previous post replying to kesa.

Unfortunately, it’s only available for those who open their FIRST e-savings account with CIBC.

Thanks for the link but that’s for new account only, won’t apply to me.
For Duca, it’s easier to send bulk email to all, then selectively block out some. On the other hand, most FI do give customers the option to be excluded from any promo email. And of course later on people forgot that was indeed their instructions, after jumping high and low and blame the other side.

Just in case anyone else is interested:
I did call in to DUCA, to ask why I didn't receive the email announcing the new promotion
Agent investigated, and told me that my email settings were such that I did not receive the email. He changed that for me
I guess I must have opted out of some emails, sometime in the past

FYI
Bit behind...newb here...
Just noticed today that the rate on my Earn More promo account opened last Dec was only 0.25%.
Customer Service line had long wait time, so called the branch to see if I could get the new 6% and was told immediately I most likely could once approved by branch manager.
An hr later the entire amount that was in the old promo account (+ what looks like the accrued interest March-to-date) showed up as a "New Account Deposit" in the new "2024 Spring Earn More" account (at 6% interest rate).
Have been getting email notifications re: monthly statements and Board of Directors vote, but nothing re: any changes of rates. Was told you need to be signed up for "marketing" notifications to get them, which I wasn't.
FWIW - this particular branch is quite small (not sure if that maybe helped in my situation).

MarkFog, did you try to transfer money into the 2024 Spring Promotion from another Duca account, or from another FI? Transfers from another Duca account do not work. It has to be new money (e.g. transfer in from another FI). Having said that, I have also noticed that they are no longer advertising the 6% promo. How long until this is reflected by the promo account? For now, mine is still showing 6%...

I think MarkFog is right. I just tested and I can no longer select the 6% account even when tranferring in from linked FI either.
They effectively closed the loop hole of DIY transfer out and back in as new money. To be honest, they were pretty dumb to offer that in the first place.
I suspect if one calls in, they can manually deposit into the 6% account for you with manager approval , once they "agree" its considered new money.

No, I tried from an external account from a linked financial institution and I don't have the option to transfer into the 2024 Spring Promotion account. Just yesterday I could see the option. That was a window of 11 days from the 15th to the 26th. Seems to be suspiciously around the 10 day hold time for those trying to transfer back after the 2023-2024 promotion abruptly ended. DUCA loves to use their fine print to get away from communicating with its clients. They've already proved they can drop a rate anytime even in a promotional period.
