Open a new Earn More Savings Boost Promo Account for new money.

Interest rate 5.25% from Aug. 21/24 to Nov. 18/24, followed by 4.00% from Nov. 19/24 to Feb. 28/25. Promo can end early ( and Duca's promos often do end early).

I wonder how fast they will shut down this promo and then lock the account so you can't add any more money to it.

I have 5.75% at Tangerine until the end of Sept. This DUCA promo would be the best option after that..

The problem with Duca is that they only allow you to withdraw $20000 per day. So this is not good for large balances.

I've opened the account anyway and will put some $$$ in it.

You could write a check for whatever amount you want, and deposit that check at the destination FI.

Also......

If you had the earlier DUCA 2024 promo account, and if it's still listed among your accounts, DUCA has converted those old promo accounts to the new BOOST promo accounts, so all you have to do is make a me to me transfer into that account....no need to follow the instructions in the advertising email to open a new account.

My chequing account at DUCA is free, probably because I'm a senior. The cheques are free too.

I just logged in to have a look
They are still showing my 2024 Earn More Promo (which expired June 30), and it now shows a rate of 5.25%
However, they won't let me transfer funds into this account from my other existing accounts there at Duca
It will have to come from external account
Their way of ensuring it is new money, I guess

My experience with DUCA is that they essentially never delete an expired account. I have to phone them every so often to get them to do it manually as the list can get unwieldy. It's a quirk of DUCA.

I got rid of my checking account because it wasn't free for me anymore.
Also, they deleted all my expired promo accounts.
