thanks, Saver-Mom.
Does anyone know if this account allows online transfers to a linked external account? It says the interest is paid monthly for this account.
I am puzzled by offers like this. DUCA's regular rates right now are abysmal. Nobody in their right mind would leave the money there after Dec 14 (I hope!). So, why do they do this?
It makes me a bit uncomfortable to think I might be banking with an FI that assumes I'm too stupid to notice the offer's over and others are offering much much better - even Meridian who is their competition in parts of Ontario at least, and who operates under the same credit union umbrella.

I am surprised that this 2.75% does not get more attention here on this forum.

Anything obviously "wrong" with DUCA that I need to consider before joining them ?

I've taken advantage of the 2.75% offer running to mid-December. Also will receive $50 for joining after 90 days AND DUCA makes a $50 donation to a charity of one's choice. It costs $1 to join.
I went into a branch as the CSR advised it was easier than online. I found this to be true as I'm not great with technology. The 2.75% offer is the "Earn More Park Account". The charitable donation is through DUCA's DUGood.
You can also earn $20 or $25, can't remember which, if you refer someone else.

They do a hard credit check. This might be an issue for some people.

I tried to open an online account but because I did not pass the online credit check I had to open an account at a branch. The rep there said I had a very high credit score.(but I had an account at People's Trust when it was hacked and my personal information was stolen.) I have an online Duca account but it only has limited functionality.I had to visit a branch to open an Earn More Park Account to get the 2.75% rate and I cannot transfer money into it online so I deposit cheques at the branch. However I can go online to transfer out of the 2.75% Earn More Park Account to a linked account (Tangerine).

goldenlion, i have the same issue. But if you use the contact us, once logged in, it creates a secure email. Duca allowed me to do multiple transfers free of charge into my 2.75% introductory rate account via secure message.
It sounds funky, but ive done multiple moves free of charge.
My once logged in contact us email looked as follows
Duca, please move 0000.00$ from my savings account, into my Promotional 2.75% savings account immediately. thanks Ken
worked great, and its usually that day(excluding sundays)

Thanks for that suggestion tcharger67. I will have to make use of that service.
Be careful with those "free of charge" transfer services from DUCA (requested by email or directly on the phone)... From what I have understood, they are free only if they are from your savings account.
For example:
- From "savings" to "Earn More Park Account" ==> Free
- From "Earn More Savings Account" to "Earn More Park Account" ==> $Fees$
You need DUCA's help to move $ to the "Earn More Park Account" (2.75%). To avoid $Fees$, put the $ in your savings account before you make the move request.

Alain, they have charged me 2.00$ per transaction, for which i've had 5.
all have been refunded within the day, without me saying anything.
just my 2 cents. i have never been charged for a transaction at duca, as long as it was using duca. That being said, I asked duca if they charge anything to send my funds to my TD or tangerine.... I was informed NO, as long as the transaction is initiated in duca's online banking. If I pull using TD or Tangerine's online banking, I will get a charge.

My post was exactly about how to avoid the 2.00$ charge per transaction when you ask DUCA`s employees to do a transfer for you. Refunds (that might not come automatically all the time) are not required when you are not charged in the first place.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. When I look at the Duca fee listing for in-branch services it states that Earn More Savings Account Transactions (Transfers, Deposits & Withdrawals) cost $2.00. I guess that includes phoned-in or emailed requests. I don't expect to be charged a fee when I deposit money in a savings account (only when I make a withdrawl).
