I don’t like the sound of that “towing to any Canadian Tire Auto Service Centre”! What if I want to use my own mechanic or tow the car to my home… Would they refuse to do so?
It is not as bad as that!
The plan has a limit of five service calls per 12 month period. A service call could be a tow up to 250 km. Now, should the service call be a tow and the tow is to a Canadian Tire Auto Service Centre within 250 km, the call would not count as one of the five allowed service calls.
A tow to one's own mechanic (not at a Canadian Tire service centre) would count as one of the allowed five service calls.

CT towing feature is not worth the paper it's not printed on.
The reason they offer it is because, once you're towed to their shop, they expect to be doing the work on the vehicle and will get their money back that way. So, you'd have to pay for a tow anyway to get it somewhere else.
This is only useful if you really like getting your car fixed at CT.
I haven't had opportunity to use the CT towing feature yet, but 250 km up to 5 times a year to garages other than Canadian Tire sounds pretty good to me !!
Compare it to some other free services-
1)TD Auto club which I did partake of once , free with your TD Cashback Visa, only tows you to NEAREST SERVICE CENTRE within 200 km. The nearest service centre was busy, so I had to pay extra to get my car towed to somewhere further.
2)Home Trust Visa roadside assistance- take you to any garage WITHIN a 5 KM RADIUS up to 4 times a year. Very skimpy in my opinion.
3)Mercedes new car roadside assistance- this was excellent, good for first 4 years of car ownership. My car keys got stolen and my car was locked inside garage, took 4 different tow trucks that they sent to figure how to get car out of my garage and to Mercedes dealer, all at no charge.

I would agree that 250km free to anywhere is very good. I was under the impression from what others wrote that CT would only take you to a CT shop. Perhaps I missed something.
The plan I have came with the car warranty and I didn't intend to get another, so haven't looked into it recently.
Good to know Mercedes follows through. One of my best friends has one of those, but I don't think has ever used the policy.
I agree, 5 km is next to useless unless you live in a small town and never leave it, e.g. people over 80 perhaps.

You don't need to download app or phone Rogers unless you want cash back applied to a prior purchase. Here's what I do:
1) Log in to my Rogers Bank online page on my computer
2) I then click on the "Cash Back Reward" white box
3) A new web page entitled "Pay with Rewards" will open
4) I leave my purchase minimum at 20.00, then click on "Next Only" button, and my cash back rewards will be applied to my account as a credit when I make my next purchase.
5) I have to repeat this process each time I want to use my cash back that has been accumulated

Briguy - That's exactly what I hate repeating every time for next purchase. So now when I go there, I make it for a minimum $50 purchase.
But I should agree, I love to get money on my foreign transactions plus the detailed alerts set up.
However, I liked their previous platform more when they used to publish the location (address) not just the name of the business and city.
Also love CT World Elite MC. As mentioned for the road assistance and also 3% on Grocery stores (Except Wal-Mart and Costco). And I am filling up at Canadian Tire every time saving that 5 cent per liter.
Don't think there is any no fee CC to replace my current ones.

Another useful no fee card to ADD on would be Stack prepaid Mastercard to load up from your Canadian bank account and then use at ATM machines when you are away from home, since they don't charge FX fee or ATM charges above what the local ATM machine will charge you.
Never rely on one card while you are away. This week I have had 1 debit and 1 credit card swallowed up by ATM machines.
