Just applied for this card from Tangerine. Made a mistake though and should have opted for the "World" card instead. Some perks there that don't come with the straight money back card.
I applied because they are offering 10% on everyday purchases over I think it was a two month period to a maximum cashback of $100. After that it goes back to the 2% in three categories and .5% in all others.
I have a MasterCard with RBC but never get anything from them. But I trust their card better when say in Mexico. Have heard problems with the Tangerine cards there. Never a problem with CIBC client/or VISA as well.
I'm "waiting" right now on call to Tangerine to question a couple of things. As with the last time they said there would be an approximate wait time of 10 minutes. Well it has been over 1/2 hour now. Typical.

Yes, I have tried late night calls and still wait quite awhile. I am pretty certain that they just reduce the number of staff for the night shift.
On the rare lucky occasion, I get the prompt allowing me to leave a message for a call-back. I have repeatedly asked reps about how to deliberately trigger that prompt and been told that it cannot be done.

I have almost always called them in the middle of the night. However, haven't called for at least a year, probably longer.
I found that wait times were much less at night Also, I often got the same guy, who was fairly competent, so that encouraged me to keep calling at that time. However, in the last year or so, the quality got worse and worse, with the reps making mistakes and giving wrong info.
I don't deal with them any more. I don't even know if my accounts still exist.
