Husband and I are taking 6 other family members on a March break warm weather trip next year. We currently only have cash back reward cards but I’m wondering if a travel reward card would be more advantageous. Any suggestions?

Here are a few interesting ones, all of which I've owned at some point:

* The WestJet World Elite Mastercard for the free checked bags (up to 9 people on the same reservation), $99 companion fare, and $250 welcome bonus. This is an awesome card -- if you are sure you are going to fly with WestJet.
* There are many Aeroplan Visas and American Express cards, with good sign-up bonuses. I found Aeroplan to be less of a sure thing, due to fees and availability -- when I had the Aeroplan cards, the points were more of an option than Plan A.
* Amex Cobalt is interesting because it has essentially a $120 annual fee ($10 per month), but the sign-up bonus and 5% on grocery and restaurant purchases to be redeemed against travel makes it worth a look at least for 1 year.

Air Canada is severing their relationship with Aeroplan in 2020 so I'd be mindful of that if you were looking at CCs offering Aeroplan points.
