From email received today:
Rogers World Elite Mastercard between May 1 – July 31, 2023 and get 3% in cash back rewards on any grocery or gas purchases. That’s double the cash back!
Get up to $50 cash back rewards per month or $150 cash back rewards over 3 months.
Is this the beginning of cyclical bonus rewards bonuses à la "Discover Card" with Rogers??

Someone reported on RedFlagDeals that the fine print of the offer allows up to two months after the end of the offer period for the additional cash back to be credited.

According to that report, only charges for merchant category codes 5411 and 5542 qualify:
1. You will earn an additional bonus of 1.5% cash back rewards … for eligible purchases (less returns) made in CAD on gas and grocery merchants as categorized by Mastercard (MCC codes 5411 and 5542) from May 1, 2023 to July 31, 2023. …
Those are described in the MasterCard Quick Reference Booklet (August 2020) as
MCC 5411 Grocery Stores, Supermarkets
MCC 5542 Fuel Dispenser, Automated
For gas purchases, one needs to pay at the pump. If one pays in the store, the MCC may end up being 5541 (Service Stations) or 5499 (Miscellaneous Food Stores—Convenience Stores, Markets, Specialty Stores).

That would be the case if Amex includes both MCC 5541 (Service Stations) and MCC 5542 (Fuel Dispenser, Automated) in its category for gas purchases, like the Tangerine Money-Back MasterCard does.
As well, the merchant's MCC is not always the same for all the credit cards the merchant accepts. I found earlier that Walmart Supercentres have a different MCC for Visa transactions than for MasterCard ones.

The card doesn't offer the cash back my other cards provide me with.
Actually I'm just posting to say they are really pushing it in every way possible. Even a tech support person I called the other day, regarding a TV issue, had the MC sales script going before I finished

Now Rogers is rebranding their regular Mastercard and offering 2.6% cashback on payments towards your Rogers, Fido, and Shaw bills and 2% cashback on everything else, as long as you have at least one product in the Rogers family such as mobile phone or Internet. This seems like a strong contender against the World Elite card, for those in the Rogers family, except for the fact that they don't give you 3% cashback on US purchases, or any insurances.

Its by far the best no fee rebate card right now, esp if u have Rogers or Fido or Shaw services !
the 10% bonus promotion upto $100 is just icing on top to make it even sweeter.
However for travel and any special trip protection insurance etc, I was told the WE card are better. Check the details if you plan to use it for those purchases.

I currently have the Rogers World Elite, but I'm still debating whether to phone in and have them switch it to this card for 3 reasons:
1) how long will they keep it at this high cashback
2) will they give this cashback offer to the World Elite card at some point ?
3) I would be forced to stick with Rogers family
I have the Rogers card bill set up to automatically debit my bank account, plus I have some bills set up to be paid by Rogers monthly, so it's a bit of a pain to switch back and forth. On the positive side, I could get a quick 100.00 by buying 1000 dollars of Costco shopcards with this credit card.

Thanks for this info and the link!
Yeah, I saw some talk somewhere about it starting September 21, but thought it was bogus because after that date (today too), Rogers Bank doesn't list it in their credit card offers. And also I previously had to have a mobile phone and home product(s) to qualify;
https://www.rogersbank.com/en/rewards
I can't see a downside, except they might make it more difficult next year to get a discounted deal on my Rogers services.
EDIT:
- Possible downside is "eligible purchases" are not defined despite a sub note '2'. The fine print does say Rogers services are eligible however.
- The cash redemption as stated in the fine print can only be done through the Rogers Bank App, " where eligible purchases are identified", which presumably can only be done on a Mobile phone, "or requested in a statement credit annually". A deal killer for the extra 30% to help pay Rogers bill, or even just to redeem at all.
To be determined if the online website can also be used to redeem. And if the Rogers App can be a program on a computer.
At this point I'll wait to see clarifications.

Signed up last week. Replacing my Tangerine cash back card. The math was simple: I spend about 40K a year on my credit card. At 2.6 percent, that yields $1,040 cash back per year when applied to Rogers services/subscriptions. Coincidentally, $1,040 is roughly what my Rogers services total in a year. Kind of a no-brainer, even though Rogers can be frustrating to deal with at times.

This new Rogers red card is no fee so really nothing to lose. When they do drop the payout rate, you can always stop / cancel it.
It fills in the gap where you cant get better than 1-2% rebate on non food and gas purchase.
For me the CIBC Visa Inifinite which is no annual fee (for me) will continue to be the food and gas card, which earns 4%.
Most other purchase will be the Rogers red card which is 2%.
This card actually kind of make my CIBC Costco card redundant too as I only earn 1% there. I will use the picture on the back but pay with Rogers red going forward lol

Tangenitally, my latest Amex Cash Back card credit just arrived (as it always does in September), and for the first time it's well over a hundred bucks - more than double my previous max - despite my not being by any means a big spender. This means that merchants are being forced to pay ever higher card fees, and our prices are being pushed up as well.
Kinda sucks. And as usual, those who don't use the rewards get no benefit from their forbearance. Way back in the sixties, I think it was, consumer groups lobbied to get rid of the parasitic costs of reward programs (anyone else remember "Pinky Stamps"?) and succeeded, with about a 3% drop in prices that lasted about a week.
Now they're back in force, and more and more such programs are starting to charge fees, coercing people to spend ever more. Canadian Tire is launching a subscription discount program. For what it's worth, we should agitate against this sort of stuff - and with the fee-bearing ones, there's no loss for not participating.
