I just received my statement on line. I have a whole CashBack of $3.33. It kind of stunned me...why so low?

I use it to pay Telus, Public Mobile, my TimeShare fees and use while in USA. The TimeShare fees are US$'s so I allegedly save on forex fees.

My payout date is Jan 15. So an easy tally was done and I can now confirm that my US$ purchases do NOT earn cash back.

I assume I am still ahead of saving 2% of forex fees vs earning 1% cash back?

Just a heads up. The small print.
1. Foreign currency transactions are converted at the exchange rate set by Visa International, without additional surcharge.

2. Cash advances, balance transfers, interest, fees and foreign transactions (including online purchases in foreign currencies) are not eligible for CashBack Rewards.

Yes, that was changed quite awhile ago. It was on a statement or two if I recall. They've also instituted a fee if you don't use the card for a year.

The November 2019 monthly statement had this:

Notice of changes to the Home Trust Cashback Rewards program. As of January 2020, foreign transactions will no longer be eligible for cashback rewards. …

You might want to get the free Brim card if you do a lot of foreign transactions, since you will get 1% cash back on them, with no FX fees. The Home Trust card has free roadside assistance so you could potentially want to keep both.
