Starting April 9th you can use Dream Airmiles to make a donation to Food Banks Canada and Kids Help Phone.

Their may be others you can donate to but the above was the newest.
I know I have Dream Airmiles that I will never use so I know where they will be going.

Great idea. But where do you see that offer? I went to airmiles site but not a word regarding donation... I have a few 'dreams' I will never use, too.
Their cheapest item starts at 600+ dream miles. I guess a lot of dough you have to spend to get stuff worth $10 or $15...

I'm in! We only have about 100 Dream MIles but would be happy to donate them. i hope there isn't a minimum donation required that we can't meet.
Thanks for posting.

I have about a hundred as well...Says you can donate starting the 9th. Might as well close my account while I'm there. I gave up collecting when they got caught with the "disappearing rewards" scam.

Helping our larger community
Starting the week of April 6, you'll have the option to use Dream Miles for donations to Kids Help Phone and Food Banks Canada – which are currently experiencing an increased demand for their services – through airmiles.ca/donate. We're looking into other ways that we, along with our Partners, can support members of our community during this time.

Great idea! I tried to donate my 324 dream miles but they only have an option of 500 Dream Miles. They would get a lot more donations if people were able to donate just what they had in their account.

Good that the AIR MILES donor will receive a tax receipt for the donation.

The increment is quite high though at 500 Dream Miles. I don't see a reason why it couldn't be 100 Dream Miles for $10.

I totally agree with a smaller 100 Dream Miles for $10. Dont care about a receipt even. I have made the suggestion on Air Miles Canada Facebook page.

Air Miles Canada is even matching the first $500,000 raised as per their Facebook page.

Thanks for the link. Chatted with airmiles.ca and here are some clarifications:

MICHAEL Thanks. Yes, you can donate 500 Dream Miles worth $50 to Kids Help Phone or Food Banks Canada, online at airmiles.ca/donate. You can also donate any amount of Dream Miles to Kids Help Phone or Special Olympics, directly through one of us here, in Customer Care.

Link: There is - you would need to go to Rewards, Merchandise, and then Donations. The airmiles.ca/donate is a quick shortcut.

It looks like we can get rig of any number of 'dream' airmiles giving them through customer service to those two categories.

So they put the minimum donations to $50? That is so weird. I have 41 miles that I want to donate but can't!

500 Dream Miles
You don’t have enough Miles!

According to poorreva's chat, you can donate small amounts by phone.

Just closed my account via live chat. Can donate any amount if you are closing. Pick between Kids Help line or Special Olympics.
1 less card I never use to carry around in my wallet.

I was able to donate my small Dream miles balance by Live Chat with Airmiles.ca.
Make sure your Airmiles account information is up to date. They sent confirming email. I did not close my account as I still use Cash Rewards..

Airmiles stated I am supposed to receive the donation receipt from the food bank within 90 days of my Dream Miles donation. That never come. Is it just me ?

I don't know what happened with the food bank but some charities have a minimum donation before they will give a tax receipt, so that the cost of receipting doesn't negate the value of the donation or make it look like they are spending too much on admin, for which some people will criticize them.

In addition, 90 days sounds more like an AirMiles calculation than a charity's calculation. Often the receipts from charities don't go out until the end of the year, i.e. first quarter of subsequent year.
