Just received our replacement cibc costco world mastercard
First takeaway, from comparison chart:
Seems like a whole raft of coverages disappearing from the Insurance and Services section
Costco likely wants to appeal to non-Costco members. Cashback will lure some non-members to become a member. More so than insurances would. The cashback set-up does make the new card a possibly a primary cc or a one card solution CC. Not the best card on the market. A card that can at least compete if you are already paying for a membership.
Insurances would make their current members happy. I think current Costco members are already pretty happy though. The huge lines and full parking lots seem to indicate Costco is making their customers happy.
I am staying away from the card as I rather stick with cards that suit my needs better and are easier and faster to redeem cashback.
I am also liking the digital offers AMEX sends out once in a while. Spend 50 and get 20 dollars off at Best Buy for example.

We do not use Capital One MC but rather another MC with points.Early in the year, we get a Costco rebate cheque for use at Costco.
I assume the CIBC Cash Back in addition to the existing Costco Rebate.
Correct?
Yes, you are correct. We have a Rogers MC that gives us 1.5% cash back on all purchases. This is totally independant of and in addition to the Costco rebate.

I know that's the case with 3rd party MC's such as your Rogers MC and our BMO or PC MC's. Perhaps my question wasnt sufficiently clear but I was referring to the CIBC/Costco MC - is that Cash Back in addition to the Costco Rebate?

Yes, it is. (And I assume what you mean by "Costco Rebate" is the 2% rebate for Executive level memberships, yes?)
I notice my Mar 14 auto pay out of my bank account for the Capital One Costco MC didn't happen yet, was I supposed to have done something due to the new CIBC credit card thingy going on?

Cap1 had a Costco Credit Card autopay function which I really liked because Cap 1 took the money from another FI on the day it was due, never a late payment.
CIBC also says it has autopay but I'll be damned where and how to set it up in CIBC.
I called help line but all they did was send me a link that was of no use at all.
Has anybody successfully set up the costsco credit card autopay in CIBC to another FI or even from an account within CIBC ?
Thanks in advance !

We were also set up on the CAP 1 auto pay
My recollection is that I read somewhere in the CIBC material, that they do have an autopay function, but, unlike CAP1, you cannot just set it via website
Rather they said that you had to phone in
Your experience is interesting--i.e. sure doesn't seem to a well-devloped feature
One would have expected that to be a commonplace, n'est pas?

Don't know how common it is but I can't find that functionality online for our PC MC, BMO MC or TD Visa ...

CIBC does have autopay, haven't even been able to try to set it up yet as when wife enters her Costco card info into CIBC registration set up screen (CIBC.com/register) for non-CIBC customers the error message that comes up is "We do not have your contact information on file. Please update your contact information in Online Banking." ??
Stayed on phone hold last night and today for quite some time, no-one comes so maybe they're not even working after normal business hours - feels like no-one's actually there but they don't tell you that.
(I'd still rather have my juicy CIBC dividends than customer service though, it'll get sorted out eventually.)

Similar experience here. I tried to register for online access, followed CIBC instructions in their email, got to the last step of reading and accepting their online access agreement, and to my amazement, there was no box to click. I actually repeated the process just to make sure I didn't miss anything -- same result. Not been able to register on their site.
I phoned them, but could not be bothered with staying on the phone for someone to pick up at the other end. 30 min. was quite enough.

I think I had something similar happen to me. I was using Chrome browser with "Add block plus and Ghostery "
I then went to microsoft Edge (clean version, no extensions runing) and the click button appeared and I was able to complete the registration. Hope this helps !

Thanks bhuc, your suggestion worked.
I thought as much, that it had to do with an ad blocker or Badger, and for that reason I disabled them on the CIBC's site. Albeit, it didn't work for me. It skipped my mind to try using another browser like Edge.
