NO self-respecting individual would ever burn Petro-Canada marketed gasoline, anyway - so no problem there.

I agree- from chatter on different forums the PetroCan 94 is just the 91 with extra ethanol and additives to boost the octane. The Shell V Power Nitro Plus 91 octane seems like best fuel for performance and gas mileage, and for older carburated cars, and other gas powered outdoor tools, since it's got no ethanol, has nitrogen for extra cleaning, and is a top tier gasoline. You can also get Air Miles.
The 91 grade octane at Ultramar is also a great deal on Thursdays especially, since it gets a 3 cent a litre discount.
Costco fuel is good quality and cheap, especially the 91 grade compared to other gas stations, but you have to go at off times to avoid line ups

How did this go from credit card combo feedback to gasoline feedback?

Because we are trying to decide if Canadian Tire credit card is worth getting.... I would say yes, for the Roadside Assistance if you don't already have coverage, but it has limited use, mainly for grocery purchases. I wouldn't personally use it to buy gas at a Canadian Tire gas station.

List of credit card I am considering or already have:
Note: I have the Mogo prepaid Visa card for no fx fee, no earnings on this card, but I may add a card later
1)Meridian Visa Infinite Cash Back
-Costs 99.00 ( first year free )+ 30.00 for second card
-4% on gas and groceries, 2% pharmacy, 2% utility bills,1% others.
( note: if you want 2% on everything you can get a CUETS or Steinbach Mastercard credit card which can also be used at Costco but there's a higher yearly fee of 150.00 for CUETS and 120.00 for Steinbach. I'm not sure if there's a problem getting a card from a Manitoba credit union)
- Good travel insurance.
2)PC Financial World Elite Master Card
-no annual fee
- for shopping at Loblaw stores and Shoppers Drug Mart and Esso
3)Costco Capital One Master Card
- no annual fee
- I would use 3% at restaurants, 1% for Costco purchases if I didn't get the Steinbach card
4)Canadian Tire Triangle World Elite Master Card
-no annual fee
-free roadside assistance
-for shopping at Canadian Tire or 3% at grocery stores (if no Meridian credit card)

thanks for the info on CUETS and Steinbach cards. I would never have thought of looking there.

I find that the shopping category known as "Other" is my biggest. Thus, 2% on everything outweighs all the other category combinations for me as I find it too much work to figure out a pocketful of cards when shopping, keeping track, paying the bill etc.

It would be good though to hear reports from anyone who has used these cards. I fear that they would be similar to Meridian's, which got a poor review if i remember correctly, for difficulties with redemptions and preauthorized debit.

I don't shop much at CTire as I find it generally too expensive, and don't shop that much at Loblaw or Shoppers either, but i do have an HBC card simply because of the extended Return Policy - 90 days rather than 30 days. This saves us a lot of money because it gives us enough time and makes it a lot easier to return anything that has failed to perform, even beyond 90 days.

I would love to get a HSBC card if I qualified for Premiere or Jade status, because then there would be no credit card fee, and those cards have no foreign exchange fees. Off topic, check out Dirty Money documentary on Netflix, Season 1 episode 4. It outlines how HSBC laundered money for Mexico cartels.
