https://globalnews.ca/news/8392574/amazon-visa-credit-cards-payment-option/

In the UK Amazon has stopped accepting Visa cards.

Something similar happened in Canada recently when Walmart stop accepting Visa credit cards a few years back.

The article makes it seem its a big deal. I am not sure this is a big deal . It does show that Amazon might not be happy with there co-branded credit card with Visa if they are willing to stop taking Visa cards in other markets.

I think this has more to do with Brexit. As higher fees on credit card transactions were introduced for purchases outside of the UK if I recall correctly.

Interesting read. Something like this may happen again in Canada. It may become more common as people turn to World Elite cards more and more. Driving up Fees and forcing retailers to take actions similar to what Amazon has done in the UK.

In 2018, MasterCard Canada and Visa Canada committed to the federal government to keep the average interchange at 1.4%.

MasterCard Canada will take action if their average interchange starts climbing from too many World Elite cards issued. They already have acted by increasing World Elite minimum income requirements and introducing minimum annual spends to keep the no-fee World Elite cards.

Walmart wasn't the only one. A few others (including NoFrills) also stopped accepting Visa.

I don't use Visa, so I don't know if things have changed.
