From Rob Carrick in the G&M -A turbo-charged but dangerous way to earn more credit card reward points
The obsessive pursuit of credit card reward points has opened the door for people to put their rent on plastic, as well as their taxes, utility bills, tuition and more.
A bunch of financial technology firms are providing this service, and so is Royal Bank of Canada through a venture called Get Digs. If you’re a supersavvy, lock-it-down manager of your personal finances, then these apps can give you a modest boost in points-earning power. If you’re not, avoid them. Don’t be the sucker who buries himself in debt in the hope of scoring a free flight.
This service does not even make sense. Why would you pay 2.5% to use a service for you to pay something on cc when you are only going to earn in many cases maximum 2% back from cc rewards? You are spending more than what you are getting back?

Because you don't pay 2.5% - the most up to date information on official website is a 1% fee https://www.getdigs.io/en-ca/faq
Hence, it is quite feasible to get at least 1% Cashback with some credit cards that give 2% on recurring bill payments.

For anyone stumbling across this, I think its worth drawing your attention to this Reddit post made recently - a great read/spreadsheet (if link still works) to see about getting the most bang for the buck, while rewards programs still last.
For people who prefer to just have one credit card, I made a spreadsheet to compare the new rates for Rogers World Elite, Scotiabank Momentum Infinite and Tangerine World Mastercard.
