Is cdn tire roadside as reliable as caa

Card is not cash back all points earned goes toward cdn tire money has to be spent in store

I used CT Roadside Assist service twice for battery boost and locked key. They do work for me. I waited more than half day for battery service maybe because the demand high at the time. I got the locked key service in about half hour.

Always been reliable for me, especially when you factor in high demand periods. In the GTA they use Abrams Towing. In other areas they will contract with all kinds of service providers. So the network is large.

But for free and the number of times this service needs to be used, it is great value.

YMMV

This service is great for you get something for bills you must pay anyway.

It was 0.8%, but as of August 2020 it is down to 0.5%.

Where do you see this info?

So, forced me to investigate. Did not find the info but my calculations show that to be true to now be 0.5% for the regular Triangle MC but thankfully still is 1% for the WE MC.

Never received a notification. Did you?

I had received an email about this downgrade.

CTC seems very secretive about this info for as you mention it is not readily available.

Only the regular card was devalued. It was announced in May --

Thx. Due to this reply I traced back the original email back in May. I noticed the increase to 1.5% for groceries (hard to miss) but did miss the drop to 0.5% because they did not mention it as a drop, just that this is the rate. So thanks for pointing this out.

P.S. I'm grateful for this community... has helped me save and make some money that I would have otherwise missed. Thanks all.

It is extended to Sep 30th.
I guess I can open an CT HISA account with small initial deposit before sep30 and will transfer large sum in later when the promo rate ends at CIBC, of course hoping the rate will be there for a while.

edit: just realized extension had been reported

BTW opening an HISA at CT is VERY old school and takes a lot of time... And to secure the promo rate of 0.2% bonus over the 1.8%, you need to fund the acct even with $1+ by Sep 30.

The process is that you register online then have to wait 7-10 business days to get a package in the mail with instructions on how to fund your acct, after which you have to mail back a check to create a link to the first acct, and presumably there needs to be time for the check to be processed and clear. (Any other links to other accts can be done via fax.)

So, be sure to account for all that time to be able to make the Sep 30 deadline.

Thanks smayer for the info. Sound like I need to open the account in the 1st week of Sep, the 2.0% rate is not in effect until Oct 1st and who knows how long the rate would last....

I just finished jumping through CTC's hoops and transferred some money into the account. The rate is 1.8% and I was told on the phone the bonus rate starts October 1st, 2020.

If you can show you or someone is getting 2% please share a screenshot for I would like to call them and ask what's up. Thanks.

Well the person on the phone got it wrong...you do not need someone else's screenshot. Their own websites states " The bonus .20% interest rate will commence on August 1, 2020."

See the fine print here: https://www.ctfs.com/content/ctfs/en/retailbanking/hisa_vip_program_customers.html

Do you actually have a CTC bank account? I know what the website says, it is wrong. I spoke with them and was told due to canada post and the pandemic the rules and time frame has changed for this. I do have their account now and will wait until october first and they have 1.8% still.

Thanks for your attitude. Not everything you read on the internet is true.

not everything you read is an "attitude" either. I was just trying to help.

I too spoke to someone on the phone and was told that the rate started in Aug as per the site. And this is not just anywhere on the internet. If something is published on their site, they must honour it. It is illegal otherwise.

@krwilson, what's your exit plan on this, if I may ask?
Can CT bank account be linked to an external account say with 2 micro deposits and fund be pulled out in one shot? any limit on the pull?

Not sure what limits on the pull.

I am in the process of connecting to my EQ account as of this morning. EQ will send the 2 micro deposits. I sent in the actual paperwork to CTC Bank this past week to get them to link my Tangerine and EQ Bank accounts....see how long that takes.

My exit plan may be short or longer. Depends on CTC Bank. They are paying 1.8% now and explained earlier that I called and if you meet the 3 step criteria you get 2% starting October 1st. So I would hope for at least several months at 2%, but as we all know things can change without notice. Money would go to EQ unless much changes in the mean time.

I originally started this whole process out of boredom and yet this is the best offer going if it falls into place.
