The login of the Canadian Tire Financial Service's http://www.myctfs.com is now automatically redirected to the new Canadian Tire Bank login page http://www.ctfs.com.
On October 20th, I login to my account at the new Candian Tire Bank's http://www.ctfs.com page. I can access my High Interest Savings Account. However, there is no option to purchase a GIC.
I phoned the support line and I was told Canadian Tire Bank Saving Account did not support purchasing a GIC.
I was told to go back to Canadian Tire Financial Service's http://www.myctfs.com page and click on the "GICs" button to apply for a new GIC. I followed that instruction, but in the end of GIC purchase application, it says it will ship me a new welcome package and I need to mail a cheque before the GIC is purchased. This makes no sense! Why shouldn't I be able to purchase a GIC, using funds in my savings account, via online banking?

Hrm, it sounds like CTS/CTB (they no longer use the CTFS moniker) launched a new online banking platform, but the new online banking platform doesn't support GIC purchases for existing clients, which, if that's the case, is a complete clusterf*ck, particularly when compounded with the lack of understanding / product knowledge of the CTS/CTB call centre staff. 🙁
No thanks. Soft, leaning hard, avoid on Canadian Tire Bank from me.
Cheers,
Doug
