Following my review series on ICICI Bank Canada, I’ve explored the ICICI online interface a bit, so here’s my rather short review. The negative comments about ICICI on the other posts on this site make me reluctant to put much of my money in ICICI, but I can say that the online interface is rather easy to use… and since I plan on interacting with customer service as little as possible, the online experience had better be good!
So far at ICICI, I’ve made an external transfer, sent referral e-mails to two people and looked at my account history online. The interface is simple and gives me the information requested (unlike the main ICICI website, which I’ve found to be quite confusing at times).
Here’s a screenshot of the ICICI online interface:
Things you can do in this interface include:
- View account summary
- Export account history to various formats (plain text, Excel, Microsoft Money)
- Open new accounts (like RSPs, and term deposits)
- Make incoming and outgoing transfers to linked accounts
- Change your mailing address, e-mail address, and password
- Refer people to earn money through their referral plan
One cool feature is that you can see a summary of who you have referred and whether they have submitted an application yet (although that doesn’t mean that their account has been opened yet).

I too agree that ICICI Canada’s front-end is logically laid-out and intuitive. I do have one complaint though, and this applies if you have more than one account with ICICI. In the “from account” and “to account” drop-down boxes, only the account numbers are displayed. If you haven’t memorized which acocunt number is attached to which account, you may end up transferring money into and out of the wrong accounts. This is particularly significant if you have an RSP Savings account and you mistakenly transfer funds into that account. You can’t get those funds back again without going through the hassle of sending ICICI a “letter of direction” (which they do not provide, you must draft your own) and paying the witholding taxes. Of course, ICICI could simply append a text description of the account to the acount number, but that would be too helpful, wouldn’t it? ;-p
I don’t know if anyone at ICICI actually reads this blog, but the minor “complaint” I refer to above has actually been rectified. Now when you use the drop-down boxes, a full text-description appears beside the acocunt number (e.g. XXXXXXXX- HiSave Savings Account vs. XXXXXXXX – RSP Savings).
How, is there a slight chance that this site is more effective than giving feedback to a customer service rep? That would be cool…
ICICI bank is a rouge bank and money is not safe int his bank. They can even tell lies after making a mess. My family and I have suffered immensely due to their neglect and incompetence
I have heard a lot of negative views on banking with ICICI mostly around the quality of customer service received, read a very few positive comments.
The questions I have is how safe is the ones personal information with any of the foreign banks.
They are a hopless bank. Thier banking methods are horrible even in India. Thier processes suck. I wish somebody take a big leap and sue them.
My experience with ICICI Bank Canada is not good, both at branch level as well as with contact centre. I did not find staff well-trained. They had a limited knowledge of the bank’s products, services, and policies. In my opinion, they continue to dwell on “We are a bank and we are right†mentality. I received a call from the bank’s so called “Customer Service Officer†after I emailed my complaint, and I was more dissapointed than ever. This guy had no idea why he called me, instead he asked me why I wanted a call from him.
In terms of staffing, it appears the bank has compromised for quantity to quality.
God bless this bank and K.V. Kamath’s (ICICI Bank’s CEO and MD)dream of an international universal bank.
Hi, I opened accoount in ICICI bank for my business and once expected incomming wire transfer. I received it after 8 days from when it has been sent. Trying to call to customer support…Hopeless…They have no clue what they are talking about…Most of the time their system in India was down..so they asked me to call back over and over again…STAY AWAY FRON THIS BANK!!!!!

Hi Anil, please send your request directly to ICICI, as this website is not affiliated with them.
ICICI sucks…i will close my account once my GICs got maturity, even if their rate is 0.5% higher than others. Their customer service is horrible.
Good luck to anyone trying to close their account. i called the customer service number and they ask you every question under the sun, putyou on hold multiple times and give you a reference #. but they never close the account…has been going on for over a year.
has anyone been successful in closing their account?
Don’t get me started about ICIC — they are horific to deal with. I got looped into opening an account through their spam methods (yes, my fault) had a not so good experience opening the account and then problems when I wanted to move funds into a term. It took three calls, with three reference numbers to finally get my account closed…now the spam is coming again.
On a positive note, I opened an account with Achieva, which has been exceptional to deal with and great rates on all types of deposits.
ICICI should hire non-Indians for costumer service when dealing with costumers in countries of English language.
iam trying to close my fixed deposit account in ICICIbank, they are asking many questions, finally they are saying signature not matched with our records. I never seen such kind of stupid bank in the entire world. Please dont open any accounts in ICICI bank. It is one of the worst bank in banking sector
HOW HARD TO CAONTACT YOUR BRANCH. I HAVE CALLED THE ICICI BANK IN SURREY BC CANADA, ON PHONE 4 TIMES AND ALWAYS LEFT MASSAGE WITH HOPE THAT SOMEBODY WILL CONTACT ME. BUT ICICI BANK IN CANADA IS WORST THAN ANY OTHER BANK IN INDIA. I HAD AN ATTENTION TO OPEN A N ACCOUNT WITH THE BANK BUT I AM SCARED NOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I HAD A PROBLEM AS A CUSTOMER AND NO BODY IS THERE TO LISTEN YOU.
