Thanks for sharing. Their GIC rates have also been dropping -- they've dropped about 4 times in small increments in the month that I've been waiting to get my account set up and my money transferred.
At least with the TFSA rate they're not waiting for the beginning of the year (knock on wood) when everyone's thinking about depositing new funds.

check out great western bank has tsfa at 3%
Do you have the URL for their rates? Or do you mean Canada Western Bank?
I like the idea of CDIC coverage and am wondering, too, why I have not put my TFSA's in these savings accounts at 3% which is higher than most 5 yr GICS, not to mention cashable at any time. I contacted CDF and Peoples Trust yesterday but have only heard back from Peoples and they seem very customer oriented for sure! And for me they are local.
Help me out though. I am ancient and over the years I have seen many financial institutions with the word trust in their name that have gone belly up and left their customers without. What, if anything, makes these folks different....Peoples Trust.
And does it say on the CDF site that the is going down to 2.55?

Kanaka, I have been with Peoples Trust for years and can vouch for them. There are 2 financial institutions with the name 'Peoples Trust' and I'm referring to the one you have linked to above.
You can note from our chart that they have been at 3% for TFSA since the beginning of 2009! They have always been fast and accurate with their customer service and it has been a pleasure to work with them. They are also fully covered by CDIC (up to the standard $100,000) which more than covers your tax free account.
As we all know, there are no guarantees with rates, but I will be investing with them again in 2013!

CDF doesn't have the 2.55% on their web page, but this came to me personally in an email from them when i was inquiring about transfer fees. This was a wise move because i would have been one very unhappy customer had i signed up this week only to see a rate decrease the next week.
Accorinding to CDF's web page, they are a member of Canada Western Bank, so its likely that their rate will be decreasing as well.
